Tampa/St.Pete

Any of you guys in the Tampa/St.Pete area. We will be leaving New Orleans Sun. morning. Going to make a stop in Pensacola, and then on to Tampa/St.Pete. Would certainly enjoy meeting up with anyone in the area. Will probably be docked at St.Pete YC.

Speaking of St Pete area...looks like I will be using a friends condo down there next April,2016. I want to check out the area for a possible future snowbird location. I am in the Great Lakes, sailing an O'Day 28 and love the port to port cruising. Is that possible in the St Pete area? Does anyone know how to "meet up" with fellow sailors in that area that will let me help them be a deck hand for a day and chat with them about their thoughts of locating in that area?

Yes And Yes

The west coast of Fl. and the entire gulf coast for that matter is a really great cruising area. Plenty of destinations north or south of the Tampa that are easy and nice sails. Plenty of marinas and nice anchorages. And there are plenty of sailors on this board from that area. If your not at all familiar with the area, you will find that in the south, people are generally more easy going and more laid back and friendly. Last but not least, sailing down here is pretty much a 12 month a year thing. You don't have to pull and winterize your boat, instead you go sailing.

How ya doing. I think the plan is to leave here Sun. morning, and make an overnight to Pensacola. Then next day cross to Tampa. Going with John and Rachel on their boat. If your gonna be there a while, maybe we can catch you guys on the way back. Haven't seen you in too long, and haven't seen your new boat at all.

if you were stopping in crystal river i would tell you to bring me some crawfish!!! from baton rouge, moved here 4 years ago and sure miss the food.

I won't have time before we leave but I could probably be talked into sending you some when I get back home. Will be back around June 1.

oh man I appreciate it but that's not necessary! Tony's in Baton Rouge will ship them and every year so far (except this one) I have found some excuse to go "home" during the season. I really appreciate it though! I hope yall have a great trip!!
