i was in Long Beach Ms on Wednesday looking at docks and slips and while i was there came across a person walking with a PH II pump assembly in his hand going to the dumpster ...i ask him if he was going to rebuild that pump and he said no replace it with a Jabsco .....i was flabbergasted by that answer ...then i had to stop and think about not everyone reads SBO and Peggy's information ....that person is getting ready for a cruse to South America and going armed with the Jabsco be that as it may ...man i hate it when i realize that if i know it everyone else already does to but they don't ...so i just wished him well and told him to have a great cruse and spared him the sermon on the benefits of a good pump versus a not so good pump it's good to know this site and the people here with all the wealth of knowledge that they share

Looking at moving south, Woody? Long beach and that area is fine for sailing..but ya gonna need Air Cond for summer at a slip. You've probably seen all the new dockage and stuff.. All very nice .. Only an hour by car to the Pontchartrain from there.. Nice sailing out to the islands. If ya get close again, give me a shout beforehand. I could buy ya a beverage ..

thanks for the invite kloudie1 ...i almost tried to contact you and Phil that day and ride on over there but really need to get back to Mobile that evening ...i searched all the way from p cola to long beach looking for what would fit my budget and wound up in Fair Hope like i originally planed ......yes it was nice on the miss coast and the marinas are fantastic.... i will when i get settled in down there be coming that way from time to time so we can do it later on ....they only thing i hate about Fair Hope is the 3 to 4 hr haul down the bay to the ICW and the open water but that's OK for now ...gotta crawl before i walk and run and i still have to sell all my shop equipment and have some more canvas work done in P cola ...oh and i do have 16k ac on board i new it would be a prerequisite for the gulf ....

I have a cousin who lives in Fairhope and is trying to talk me in to moving down there. It was worth seriously considering till I found out what homeowner's insurance on the Gulf coast costs!

Sounds like a rain check is in order, Woody. Sailing on the bay is not too bad if you draw 4 feet or less. I have a brother who had a Pearson 303 across the bay from Fairhope for a few years. Sailed with him a bunch. Really nice to head east on the ICW from there and sail the back bays. Phil can speak to that.. Good on the AC.. I thought I remembered you discussing having one ..
Peggy.. Insurance wasn't too bad until Katrina made such a mess.. On top of high rates, we pay a surcharge ... and I live a long way from the big water .. but.. the climate is fine (ok it is a little hot sometimes!) and the food is fine.. and the folks are generally very friendly..

The base HO policy isn't bad, but the wind and water damage rider with a deductable that's 10% of the value of my house, plus flood insurance is a killler. So I reckon I'll stay put and give you a shout when I come down to visit.

Btw...I may know the reason for the toilet swap: He's leaving the country, which could make parts and service for the PH II problematic...plus, if his PH II has some age on it, replacement pumps cost a lot more than Jabsco pumps. Those are cheap and don't take up much storage space...he could take 3 with him for the price of one PH II pump. So it actually makes sense...although, if the PH II wasn't in need of work, he might have sold it or even given to somebody instead of tossing it.
