taking on water at rudder post sleave

While motor sailing Monday, we noticed water in the starboard side storage area of our 1990 Hunter 335. When we arrived home we emptied the aft cabin and found the cushions soaked with salt water and the wood soaked as well. We are not sure if there is a seal at the top of the rudder or a fracture in the fiberglass tube surrounding the rudder post. Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with you boat but, on my Hunter, the cockpit scuppers are drained through hoses from the cockpit sole through the hull under the stern. Is it possible that one of these hoses is loose? I was wondering because you suspect the rudder tube, but you said the leak is in the starboard side. Hope this helps.
