Looking for information on Tack Tick wireless products from owners or user of them.Reliability,durability cost compared to wired units.I mostly sail by feeland telltales,have a windex but thinking of upgrading to direction,speed unit.

I have had them for 2 years and they work flawlessly. Best part is no clanging wires up the mast and through the cockpit floor. Easy to install.
I'm so happy to read this, we have considered going Tack Tic for a couple years and have yet to really hear from people who have installed it. Great that you asked the question and good to hear positive responses so far. Thanks! Will be watching this thread for as much detail as anyone can share.

Can't really speak to long term reliability, but after a little more than 1 full season, ours have worked flawlessly. One knock I read about them before purchase was that the wind transducer and receiver would lose comms in urban areas. We sail out of Boston harbor and haven't had a single instance of losing the connection.
Installation was a snap and straight forward (speaking for the solar version).
Depending on which series you chose, another nice feature is the ability to easily move the displays around the boat. They ship with extra brackets and the displays just slide in and out. Makes it convenient to get them out of the weather when not in use, as well as monitoring wind and depth from the cabin when at anchor.
I used a router to cut out backing plates and mounted them to the helm. The black bracket shown below can be flush mounted to any surface w/o needing a backing plate. This was to be a temporary setup, but after sailing with them, we may just keep it as is.

Installed a wind/speed indicator on a Hunter 31. Significantly lower cost than a hard wired unit. Works great.
I thought they were pricey, but the new West catalog has their entry level systems which seem to be in line with competitors now. These must be a new line (first I've seen of them ... ) A wind system is $670. The standard cruising instrument systems seem to be more expensive ... $1140 for wind system.
Wow, I'd not seen these before. But then again, just getting my feet into boating again after about 12 years away.
Ed Where are you in SD? We just left (for Dana Point where we live) Shelter Cove in America's Cup Harbor after 5 years... Loved it and miss SD very much. When looking for anything 'boatie" SD puts everywhere else to shame in southern Ca. We knew it was great (availability of everything sail) when we were there but now it is crystal and painfully clear!!!
We're at SDYC, or at least that is where the boat it. We live at the far NE edge of Escondido. After moving to TX in 2000, and moving back in '08, we finally got a slip again the end of last year. The area is indeed great for boating, but Dana Point is beautiful too. Could you not keep a boat in SD? I know it's a hike, but could be worth it.

Yes, we did keep our boat in SD for the past 5 years while living in Dana Point for the past 30+! We just finally decided (and came up on the wait list in DP) to move it to our home area so we could get some things done on our house rather than every single weekend away on the boat. The drive was never a problem, but our house was suffering. Plus we got a kitten and now we are responsible parents again!!!! We will give DP a while and if we miss SD too much, we can move back.

We have it installed more than 2 years now and works fine. We also connected it to our Garmin 421s and thus get vmg to wind and/or waypoint.
