I just bought a 1986 Hunter 23 and I do not have the tack pennant and was wondering how long it is? I know it is 5/32, but not the length. Thank you for any help
Not to sound like I am being sarcastic, but the pennant needs to be short enough to keep the jib halyard clip from jamming into the top of the mast block when the jib luff is fully tensioned. Some sails do not require a pennant.. Depending on how your sail was cut, the tack may schackle directly to the front fitting or it may need a pennant to clear an obstacle ?? The best thing to do would be to hoist the jib until the block jams slightly then subtract about 4 inches from the dimension between the jib tack and the stem fitting where it should attach. If that dimension is already 4-6 inches, the tack probably should schackle directly. If a pennant is necessary, consider 1/4" or 3/16" Dyneema .. That way you can easily adjust the length to suit .. The West Marine out on Harrison probably has some .. You'll only need a few feet .. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wc...&subdeptNum=50130&classNum=50132#.UT3WQNZNa84
