Tack Fastening

Just purchased a 1990 Hunter 30T. I’m wondering about the Main’s Tack. It doesn’t appear to have any obvious fastening. The couple times I have sailed her so far I have just put the tack on the Rams Horn. How is the tack supposed to fasten? I don’t see a downhaul or any sort of shackle or pin arrangement. What do other Hunter 30’s have ?

Check out Rig-rite.

Figure out the mfg of your spar. Then go to the Rig-Rite site at (www.rigrite.com) If you do not see what you are looking for, then give them a call. We have an Isomat spar. They have a hole in the forward end of the boom. There is a shackle with a pin that goes through the boom fitting.

Lost shackle?

Sounds to me like the tack shackle was lost before you bought the boat. You can get a replacement 'most anywhere.
