I attach the cringle just above the tack with a shackle and pin to the gooseneck. Is this correct? Should it be rigged like a cunningham? Also what is the proper way to use the outhaul I have mine set tight and leave it. Should I be easing the outhaul in lighter air, tightening in heavy wind? Will it make that much of a difference. Just One more question on the 23.5 is the center of effort fore or aft of the center of lateral resistance on a 23.5?

Tack Cringle, etc.

Louis, I imagine that the rig for the 23.5 is substantially the same as the rig for the 240. If that is the case, then it sounds like you are rigging the main correctly with respect to the tack. Also, in my view, you have correctly stated a function of the outhaul - taught in heavier winds (flattens and thus depowers the sail); loose in lighter winds (puts more belly in the main to power up). As to the CLR/CE question, I can't help you. Good luck!

Outhaul

I race my H240. When the wind is up I crank the outhaul setting before hoisting the sail. In light winds lossen it. Unfortunatly there is enough mechanical advantage in the stock system to make proper adjustments while under load.
