Tack Anchor Shackle for CDI FF2???

I purchased my used sailboat and it came with a CDI Flexible Furler 2. The PDF manual I downloaded from the website shows pics of the furling drum assembly with NO tack anchor shackle. This is just like what I have. However, the same manual shows drawings of the tack shackle and includes it in the parts list but never mentions in the instructions??? I don't have tack shackle, nor could I see a location to add it to the top of the drum if/when I buy one. I'm a bit confused by all this not adding up. Do I have to drill through the top of the drum and attach a shackle? Tack Shackle?

Hi Bob,Use CDI FF4 - Think they are all simular. There's haylard to raise Genoa and travels over a pulley shieve at the top and is secured to the drum opposite the foil. The Genoa tack is secured to the drum below the foil. CDI's system is unique since the halyard is self contained - rotates with the furler. The FF 4 I have has bosses in the drum to attach both shackles (haylard and genoa tack). I have seen a cleat used on older models mounted to the drum shank. Both haylard and tack will attach to the drum top flange or shank.Could give CDI a call.Good Luck,Bob

Eyemount #1422 ?

The Tack Tension Line fastens to the eyemount on the top of the drum. In 1998 the eyemount was replaced /w a shackle that stands on the top flange of the spool (drum). Thanks gentlemen...

In place of an eyemount I'll just mount my own shackle through one of the existing holes. The previous owner had the furling line running up from the drum and passed through both holes before tying the stopper knot. After reading the directions AGAIN for the um-teenth time, I see you only need to pass it up through one hole and then tie the knot. Duh....on my part. Live and learn. Anyway, this will solve the mystery of where to attach a shackle (or eyemount). I'm just happen I didn't take a drill to it and screw it up.Thanks again for your suggestions/ideas.Happy sailing.Bob
