Table Problems

I am having problems with the stability of my table. I own an '83 Catalina 25 with in-line cabin layout. That is there are port and starboard benches in the cabin. The table itself folds up neatly against the bulkhead, but when I set it up it rocks in its mountings. The wall clips easily slip out of their holders whenever someone even thinks about leaning on one side the table. This is driving me crazy (not to mention getting messy)! I was curious as to whether anyone else has this problem and how or if they were able to solve it.

Table problem

On the C-25 National Association web site I saw where someone with the same problem came up with a solution. They installed a turnbuckle that ran from the underside of the table to the bulkhead. This would pull the table downward to keep the brackets in place. I had the same problem and then discovered that the leg peg was not in its hole in the floor. I have not had a problem since. Greg

Easy Fix

We have a C27 which uses a dinette layout but the table is probably attached in a similar manner. Ours has a little hole drilled and tapped into each bracket through which we thread in a couple of bolts which hold the table top portion of the bracket up tight against the bulkhead and keeps them secure in their housing. If you don't have the holes there drilling and tapping would be an easy and inexpensive fix.
