I am looking at buying the 260 new. I have a question that I forgot to ask the dealer: Does the table drrop down to be even height with the padded seats that surround it? Do you get cushions to convert this in to another sleeping area? Thanks, D

No...

The table doesn't drop down, it rotates 180 degrees to rest in a lip along the aft edge of the v-berth. The seat cushion from the forward end of the settee is then put on the table top, extending the v-berth by about 2 feet. I tend to leave the table in this position on my (very similar) Hunter 26 because it makes for more floor space, and there is still room for 2 people to sit at the table.

Generally what Tom said but,...

...in a keel version (270) the table will lower. In addition, I believe some people have re-engineered the table to lower in a 260 as you described. I am not sure if there is a lip to rest the table on the setees in the 260, in the 26 there is none. But, a 260, as Tom pointed out does not come from the factory equiped to do so. I also leave my table rotated like Tom. Some people have cut it down, some people have drilled a pin to elevate it to the head liner. alan

90o

Another postion to leave the table is at 90 degrees, having the edge rest on the lip on the side of the boat at the top of the port (or starboard) seat cushion. Unfortunately it deosn't drop down - if someone has modified an H260 table to so, I wish they'd post some pictures of in the Project section....

can be done

When we were shopping for our new 260 I asked a lot of questions and here is what I found. The table would fit down into the lip which runs around the seats if it were not for the hump in the floor that houses the swing keel. If you removed the plastic cone that supports the table it would fit. However you would have to drill a new hole in the post and make some sort of fold down legs and possibly brace the table for additional strength. I am still thinking about doing just that. By the way we just spend ten days on our boat cruising the lake Erie isdlands and had a blast! To make the bed under the cockpit more comfortable we added a queen size foam pad available at Walmart or other stores. It made a big difference!
