John, When you say an 1987 19' O'Day, you are referring to the O'Day 192 right? If you are referring to this boat, it's doubtful whether you will find the same type of mast step that was originally used on their spars, but that doesn't mean that you can't have a Dyer stainless steel hinge Tabernacle installed on your mast and cabin top. In fact, I would recommend it highly, because I have a similar type of hinge on my boat that was made by Kenyon. If your spars were made by Z-Spar and have internal halyards, your Jib halyard probably came out through a small sheave at the bottom of your old mast Tabernacle step. These Tabernacles and all the spar extrusions were made in France. They had a very chintzy cast Aluminum construction that could often break very easy. You may be better off taking the boat down to a sailboat rigger and have them look at it and just go from there. If your boat in fact has a Z-Spar mast and boom, converting the mast step over to a stainless steel Tabernacle is going to make the mast a little shorter by about 1 1/2 to 2" and your existing stays will be a little too long. These riggers can do whatever it takes to get your rig all set up for sailing. I hope that I was able to be of some help, but it's hard unless you could offer a picture or more information. Good luck! Joe

Stuff for a 192 - http://www.drmarine.com/products.asp?cat=285 Stuff for a 19 - http://www.drmarine.com/products.asp?cat=144 I agree with Joe - talk to a rigger. If you take some pictures and post them here, that might help. You need to find the model of boat you have (19 or 192 - I'd guess 192 because of the year) and the mfg. of your mast. K
