I'm refitting a 1987 Catalina 25ft swing keel. after 40 plus years in the sun the T-tracks / Jib rails are rather oxidized, I found a local shop that would refinish them but they want to know what the alloy the aluminum is... Anybody have any idea? I've reached out to Catalina.com but nobody seems to answer the phone or respond to voice mails...

That's unusual. Catalina has historically been really good about responding. They helped me through a repair on a 40 year old boat. You know, Catalina.com is not the company? The company is at catalinayachts.com.

Bar Keepers doesn't typically play well with aluminum. I ruined an aluminum pan by forgetting this. (It won't destroy it. It just creates a weird surface appearance.) I don't know which alloys would be OK, but I would approach tentatively.
