I found this T connector on the hot water line to the galley faucet, It had cracked over the winter and was leaking badly as soon as I turned on the water pressure.

Does anyone know what this is for and if I need it. I am planning on just reconnecting the hoses with a simple connector.

Looks like a drain valve for waterlines, maybe installed by PO if it's not factory, and my California built 320 sure didn't come with any.

It is a low point drain for draining the water lines in the winter so you do not have to use antifreeze or if you do it is not diluted when mixed with the water in the lines

Exactly the same thing happened to me this spring. After consultation with the mechanics at my marina they suggested that I replace it with a simple 90 degree barb connector and clamp it down well.. I did and all is working well.

Thanks for the responses. This forum is very helpful as always.

I will replace it with a simple connector when I head down to the boat on Friday.
