Anyone have experience with synthetic teak? I was wondering if there were such thing as synthetic teak hand rails... mine are OK, but I was thinking about replacing them anyway - not to mention they are a bit loose... and the whole rebedding thing (not leaking, yet). Thanks.

Hey DPT, you probably already know this, Starboard seems to be the only synthetic type of material I know of that is used to replace wood parts on a boat, the only problem is I don't think anything they have to offer has a wood look. Fran at Barrett marine in Waterloo, NY said that the stuff is very workable and that you can use standard wood tools to cut and craft it. Jamestown Distributors at jamestowndistributors.com is one of the, very many, places that has all sorts of wood and starboard products this will give you an idea of cost, sizes etc. Good luck on your search

If you can pick up a couple of pieces of synthetic decking and make your own. Some of the better products have colors that look like both new and aged teak. It should be fairly easy to work with. Maybe I'll pick up a couple sticks and try working with it.
