Hello,
I recently bought a 2006 hunter 31 and replaced the lead acid batteries with agm's. My ac charger automatically switched charging configuration. My question is " do I need to do anything at the alternator for changing to agm's? "
Thanks

I made no change to the alternator when I converted from lead acid to AGMs a few years ago. There were some programming changes to our Xantrex charger settings that were recommended. I made all the changes to the charging system through the Link-1000 interface. Total amp capacity, peukert function and battery type were among those made.

Probably nothing you can do at the alternator, the regulator however may have things that can be changed. Unfortunatly we don't know what alternator regulator you have.......

  • What alternator do you have? Brand & Model #
  • What brand AGM batteries do you have they all require differing absorption & float voltages plus every brad requires temp compensation
  • What charger? Brand and model #
  • Is the boat at a dock or mooring most of its life?
  • Does the alt have an external regulator?
