The "threaded nut" that is located inside the keel housing that the keel hold bolt is screwed into is striped. How do I replace it? Is there a replacement part available?

Helix Coil ?

I am not totally familiar with the lock down threads, but have some experience with the bushing threads. The lock down "nut" maybe glassed into the keel trunk during manufacture, and therefore the glass around it would have to be ground out, and a new nut glassed back in. An alternative method could be to use a helix coil on the old nut to repair the threads. It involves getting the appropriate sized helix coil kit (auto parts store), over boring and threading the existing nut, and then threading in the helix coil to bring the threads back to the original size. Regards, Ted

Thanks

I will give the Helix coil a shot. Seems like a better solution than cutting out the old "nut" and glassing in a new one. Happy Sailing Pat Murphy Benicia, CA
