I am considering retrofitting the swing keel on our 1980 Catalina 25 to the wing keel offered by Catalina Direct. Can anyone tell me what the boat will draw with the wing keel?

Wing Draft

A factory wing keel has a draft of 2'10" so I would imagine that the retrofit wing keel is about the same. Many C25 National Association members have done this modification and would have more specific information. Ask this question at the Sailor's Forum at the website. At the National Association website in the Tech Tips section, there is a detailed procedure on the swing to wing conversion. wing draft info

On the 25/250 website there has been considerable discussion of this topic. Some sailors have reported that there is a little bit of variation from year to year in the swing keel housing vis-a-vis the replacement wing, requiring fairing with epoxy slurry (usually) and sometimes the pictures show a little flange-like lump along the keel attachment. This leads me to believe that there might be some variation in the final draft as installed. Better figure on three feet and be happy if less, fair winds Ron SR SK Orion in SW FL
