Swing Keel

Hi Anyone ever had there swing keel not go down
The threaded rod is free and well greased . Dove and
slid a flat tool all around the keel found nothing stuck in it

Guess all depends on design but maybe the pendant is stuck on the top sheave........ Try cranking up then letting go to see if it freed itself. Can you fashion a hook that you can put up the trunk to pull grab the swing keel and pull it down?

What kind of boat, year and size would help?

From looking at the left hand column I would guess your boat to be a Beneteau 31, although some people don't always update that information.

I've attached a maintenance diagram that applies to the Beneteau centerboard mechanism, hope this helps. I have seen a struck centerboard on a B 311 but that was rust from sitting on a boat lift for several years without use or maintenance.
