Oday 192 Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota
I have a 1986 O'Day 192. Everything is currently fine. However, I worry that after 19 years the line that attaches to the keel to pull it up may be in need of maintenance. How do I get to it? Do I go to a marina and put it on a sling and check it out? Do I put he boat on my lawn and tip it over? Or do I wait till it does not work to fool with it?

cold water

Given your locale, it may be getting a bit cold to dive on it and inspect in visually with the keel down. Perhaps a wet suit will help, or maybe you will have to wait for warmer weather next year. I am not sure of the winch set up on the 192, but in most cases in this type of set up the only part of the cable that you cannot see is the lowest couple of feet. You can usually see most of the cable as it winds onto the winch, so to see the part you can't see, you have to dive on it. If you pull your boat out for the winter, you may be able to drop your keel enough to be able to start pulling out part of the cable from underneath to have a look at it. Usually a stout sawhorse, and pulling the boat back on its trailer, will allow you to drop the keel so that you can inspect the cable and its attachement to the keel. This is the part that is most likely to give you trouble anyhow.
