swing keel down????DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Sounds pretty dumb but I cant find the dog or release lever to bring down my keel 1979 cat 25.Help!!!

Look below the first step leading into the cabin. You will see a hole into which you can insert the crank to lower the keel.

yes ive done that to bring the keel up but how to get it down is a nother matter it would seem??

If it's anything like the Macgregor it has a brake winch. It should release when you crank it counter clockwise. Sometimes they stick so you need to bump the handle.

I had the same problem when I first got my Catalina 25. All you have to do is turn the handle opposite of bringing the keel up. The winch is a brake type, and so it doesn't have the "clicker", or hammer to stop it on the way up.

Thanks to all! Turned it counterclock wise 1 full turn and waited and waited till finally it freed itself.Probably from beeing on the trailer so long??TX
