I tried to raise my keel after my latest day sailing and there was nothing there. Seems the cable has become disconnected fromt he keel. So no my boat is in the water keel down. Is that a problem? Getting it back on the trailer, will it swing up as I pull it on the trailer or.... ?

loose keel

First pass a line under the boat forward of the keel Put each end around a sheet winch, then take up slack and winch the line in until you have taken up about three feet of line on each side. This should enable you to raise the keel enough to get close to the trailer and on it without too much damage. If the water is clear, and you can dive under to boat to see how far you can go up that is ideal. You do want to avoid winching up so far that the line slips off the rear of the keel in the up position.

You could try After lifting the keel as far as possible as per Night Sailor's info. push the trailer into deeper water attached to the towing vehicle with a tow rope Winch the boat onto the trailer with the trailer winch Drag the trailer out far enough to chock the wheels Reattach to the towing vehicle.

It happened to me!

I was able to put the boat in the trailer with no problem (the keel went in the trunk easily). The only think you have to be careful is to not let the boat slide aft once on the trailer as the keel can get stuck underneath the aft trailer cross member. As far as fixing the keel cable there was a lengthy discussion on the trailor sailor forum. Ben
