swing keel attachment

I've noticed that when at anchor my keel make a _lot_ of noise when the boat rocks. It just bangs around down there. So, the other day I got under the trailer to check it out. There are two metal plates with two screws each that hold a one inch plastic looking rod in place. I can push the keel up off the metal plates 2 or 3 inches and there is a lot of side to side play as well. The rod is set in a channel but it seems like something is missing... Does anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking about making something to fit in there to take up some of the extra space and hold the keel better. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

Wedges?

I haven't pulled my CB out but from what I've read in the archives (search for "wedge" in the reply message) there are suppose to be a pair of fiberglass wedges (one on each side of the CB) to take up some of the space and support the nylon CB pivot. Your's may be broken or worn. You'll need to drop the CB to find out.

CB wedges

I have removed my CB and it is held in place with 2 wedges that are 6 3/4 inches long and they slide into a molded space in the trunk.The wedges hold a nylon roller( 2-3/4"long by 1-1/8"round that is captured by the top of the wedges and passes through the CB. The wedges are 13/16" thick so I'm not sure how they would break or crack since they are "nested" in the slot formed in the trunk--but the only way to find out is to drop the CB---good luck
