Swim platform question/advice

I am thinking of installing a swim platform on the transom of our 1986 catalina 30. A custom bought swim platform with all of the hardware is close to $1500. I am thinking of alternative options.

Current plan i am contemplating is to install two small platforms (without the ladder) on the two sides of the platform. See the picture below. Again, I would not include the ladder. In addition, the looped bracket support would be positioned to the most port side position for the port side mounted platform, and the looped bracket on the starboard side would be mounted to the most starboard side position. We would use the original ladder to climb up and then the person would choose weather to get on the starboard or port side mounted platform. Please share any advice/comments you would like. This solution would cost aboyt $300-$350 instead of $1500.

A good swim platform is like having a back porch. It was my favorite feature of my H356. I'd favor spending the $1500 bucks for the real deal.
And you'll need the ladders to climb up. Maybe not not now but guests and you will eventually.

the only issue i have is that i have a custom cover for winter storage and the cover will not fit anymore after the platform is installed.

Consider in your install design a way to remove the platform for storage in the cockpit.

If I understand you correctly these two mini platforms will be either side of your exisiting transom ladder?? Sounds like a workable solution.

Of course you could go crazy with a bit of glass work and end up with a Catalina 33 !!

I just bought a blowup back porch instead... It was almost the same cost as your swim platform, but I think I've got more real estate...:p

Wow... That looks nice... How many boat bucks are involved in a Back-Porch?
