has anyone put a small swim platform on a 26s or c. i know it will require a lot of reinforcement but there seems to be plenty of room. please share your ideas.

I think Nelson moved the outboard to a mount on the starboard side and then had a small swim platform just below the outboard well. I think this was so you could then board by stepping up through what was the outboard well. Not sure how to get to his mods now. He posted mostly on another board ...

.. where he still might be posting (I haven't been active there for some time). I think he still has his S or D and also now an X.

I extended...

... the ladder on the Mac to make it much easier to climb while swimming as it goes down in the water now. Also use it....

...as a tow bar and a boarding platform.

It is a handy way to get in and out of the Zodiac. One could maybe do something similar with the ladder pivoting up horizontal lower down near the water so you could climb on it out of the water.

Or make a swim platform that hangs on the ladder rungs when you want that option. I could see something like that where it could hang from the ladder at the water level. Hanging from the rung above the bottom rung. When you don't need it take it off the ladder and fold the platformt up and store it in the lazarette. The part that hangs form the ladder would have to extend down in the water a ways and have a removable diagonal brace to support the platform when it is hinged down.,

This is made by a company called Garelick. Around $200. Installation was easy, though required a second pair of hands. I reinforced on the inside, but after watching friends boarding I can see i need to strengthen the outside of the transom as well. The backing plates go vertically inside the lazarette, I figure some side-to-side pieces of teak or something on the outside would make it very solid.
It was leaps and bounds better than the single rung ladder that was on there when I bought it. Much easier to board for everyone and a convenient way for ladies to pee. I even put a little down-shining LED out above it for better footing at night (its not there in this picture)

I put a similar used teak platform with a 4 step telescoping ladder. I used the original ladder mounting holes and the back stay hole to hold a 3x 1/4 inch aluminum angle across the stern. I mounted the swim platform to this, and added a step on the angle. This gave a step from the platform to boat. I also added an inexpensive handrail. I will post a picture tomorrow.

I was going to get one like willsnow did. Place to put the fuel tank when sailing. I like the upper grabs are mounted right by the seam where it's a little more rigid even though you did back it up

I ended up with folding steps for the money part
