SV: [AlbinVega] Vega books

Hi there!
As a matter of fact I'm myself looking for books about sailing Vega, so I'm pleased reading your interest about the same subject.
As a Swede, the only book I've heard of, and also read, is the book you are referring to, "Västvart med passaden" or "Westward with the Tradewind". To try to help you I phoned the "Nordstedt & Söner" förlag to find out if the book was translated into English. I'm sorry to say that it isn't. The person I spoke to said there wasn't much interest in translating Swedish books in the 70:s, the book was written in 1973 and has, by the way an ISBN/ISSN-no: 91-1-734022-5. Thats for my (of little) help.
But I got interested in what you wrote about a video "Vega Westbound" , witch was mentioned in the book by Åke Mattsson as a documentary film. I didn't know that the film was made into a video. Is this video for sale?
Could you please also give me a hint about "The log of the Mahina" and where this book can be found?

Bertil,
Sorry to hear the Westward book wasn't translated.

The Log of the Mahina is still in print (in English) -- I got my copy
through Amazon.com (do you in Sweden know of that web site? Almost all
books in print in English can be ordered from that web site.) If you
need more information to help you find or order it, let me know. (It's
definitely worth reading.)

Regarding the video, I don't know who originally distributed it. (It was
made by the Swedes who sailed with Mattsson on that Atlantic crossing,
is about 30 minutes long --and the copy I saw has English narration
[with Swedish accent].) The American Vega Association had a copy that
Sid, our dear departed leader, mailed around to interested members.
Does anyone reading this now have any more information about this or
whether that copy is still being shared?
Best,
Tom
