Hi all.

Knot is one nautical mile per hour, nautical mile beeing 1852 meters or
1.151 mile.

mph is imperial mile per hour, imperial mile beeing 1609 meters.

kph is kilometers per hour, kilometer beeing 1000 meters :)

As we usually are travelling in nautical environment, the custom is stating
speed in knots.

Good winds.

Hi Gusti;
thanks for telling, now we all know. May I add that the nautical mile goes together with time, a great advantage when sailing the globe.
I only sail in the Florida Keys, and mph suit me best.
Happy sailing, Wilhelm, V-257

PS
Gusti, you\'re lucky living in Denmark (according to your e-mail). Here in the US we\'re having miles, Yards, Foot, and the Foot divided into inches for most people, but for the civil engineer the Foot is divided into tenth and hundreds, and then the inch is divided into fraction of an inch (1/2, 1/4. ect). but the inch is also divided into tenth, hundreds of an inch, and when I sail my Vega, I\'m always happy knowing there is 1.326 Foot water under my keel......though I don\'t have the faintest idea what that "6" is supposed to tell me......
