I have a 2006 26M with a Suzuki DF 50. I sail mostly in the Chesapeake Bay and always carry too much gear a supplies along with my 3 brothers. What prop size do most of you run? I would like good top speed and gas mileage most. I hate to admit it but I tend to do more motoring than sailing because we always head to a port at least 50-60 miles away. Any recommendations, expecially from those that have tried different size props. Where is a good place to get a competitively priced prop? Thanks Lowell

most use the 12 inch, 11 pitch or 10 pitch for a Mac. make sure that it has alot of surface area (big dog ears) otherwise it'll cavitate. some of the "utility" props in that range are "cupped". I went with the Michigan Match brand 11 pitch and it worked fine for me.

Prop choice

No matter which prop you choose, be sure to check RPM's at normal load to insure motor is not lugging or over reving but turning in the recommended operating range for your motor. Either is bad on motor. I have a Merc 50 2stroke. I use a 11 7/8 x 10 pitch for faster, short distance motoring and a 10.5 x 12 pitch for extended slow speed motoring. It's always a good idea to have a spare prop.
