On my Hunter 260 I have a 2004 Suzuki DF 9.9. HP outboard that has very little water coming out of the "pee hole" or I guess correct term is the water pilot hole. When running the water is seen to be coming out of the lower unit above the water line.

Any suggestions of what may be wrong?

I have pushed a small gage wire up the pilot hole and found no blockage, I have placed a vacuum on the pilot hole and been able to suck water up thru the system.

The boat is in the water and difficult to really get at the motor so before I pull it out of the water I would like to get some feedback for you folks.

The marina's all seem to be to busy to come look at my issue for several weeks...I want to get out on the water now. So any suggestions or past experiences are welcomed.

Mud, or mud dauber wasps have clogged mine before. I stuck a few inches of an old coat hanger in the exit hole while it was running and broke it up. Another time, i tried to cross the shoal at one of the local rivers here and sucked up some mud. I dropped the lower unit and even replaced the impeller. What i neglected was, during disassembly, the gasket that the riser tube slips into and connects to the pump fell into the grass unnoticed. It wasn't noticeable with the pressured water from my garden hose helping to for e the water through. It was sure noticeable after i trailered over to Biloxi for the weekend though. If you work on it yourself, get a parts diagram first. It's not a complicated system and is probably clogged or bad impeller.

Re: Suzuki DF 9.9 HP 4 stroke water cooling pee hole questio

Go ahead and flush the engine with a water hose. If you get good flow then your problem is likely a failed impeller.
