I notice some black oil spattered from vent slot of KM2P gearbox and on starboard side rear engine mount and compartment. Not much but enough to raise concern. Chief suspect is the back crankshaft oil seal.
Can I decouple prop shaft and remove the KM2P gearbox easily to access and dig out & replace oil seal?
Boat is on water and no plans for haul-out till 4-5 months time.

What is the grade or viscosity thickness of your engine oil? An oil additive to thicken viscosity should stop or reduce any oil leak until next haul-out.

The crucial thing is if ya have enough space.. The transmission can be uncoupled and removed aft but that will require 3-4inches of back space to get the transmission shaft out of the damper plate.. Then the flywheel has to come off.. The seal and rear main and thrust bearing are in a removable carrier that you can pull to get easy access to change the seal. The carrier is sealed into the crankcase with an o-ring so a new gasket is not required.

I uses 30W50 diesel engine oil. I used to add STP but haven't done so last 2 years. Thanks for reminder, I'll add some STP heavy lube.

Kloudie1, I've to check the clearance. 3-4" may just be possible. Thanks.
