We are looking to buy a boat in Port Aransas and would like a survey. The first surveyor that got back to us is booked till April 21st. Any suggestions for people in that area that might be available sooner?
We would also be interested in an unofficial look over if someone local is willing while we wait for the big survey....

Boat sales are up and marine surveyors are in short supply. Call every marine surveyor to find a surveyor who can do it earlier, which was what I did on a boat purchase last October OR modify the purchase agreement to extend the closing date until you can have it surveyed. We are using Michael Firestone, and have the purchase pushed back until after inspection and sea trial :) We are super excited for this new boat (our first bluewater )

Good plan...............be patient as the boat market is very busy due to Covid and boat buying is way up. That will give you more time to secure competitive marine insurance, lease a marina berth and obtain budget quotes from boat contractors for any work you plan to do. I would love to look over your prospective boat and give you my assessment as I have owned and fixed up / upgraded many boats over the years

Mike Firestone came highly recommended. Unfortunately we bought boat in Kemah and had to use someone else. If you can get Mike Firestone, great for you!

Mike Firestone referred us to another surveyor that could do the survey sooner (before we fly down) so that's exciting! Hopefully this time next month we week be doing our sea trial and sealing the deal!
