Surprise on Dry: Ballast Tank Gasket

Actually I expected that the gasket is not sealing proper anymore but it looked worse than expected. I had tested before the gasket by pumping some water out of the tank and it came back pretty soon.
I got a nice piece 1/8" thick neoprene rubber via Internet and going to cut and glue it with 3M5200 onto the cleaned plate. Thought it would be from interest.

While you have your ballast tank valve out you may want to weld on a smooth area in the spot the inside (top) seal is located. Threads don't seal very well and that is the cause of a sometimes leak.

when the plate is cleaned score it lightly with sandpaper so the 5200 will attach better.
