Summer of Capt. Ron(?) pt. 1

It's hard to decide on how to write this up, except that most sailors know of the movie Capt. Ron. It was on Memorial Day weekend a few years ago when a guy shows up at our marina wanting to launch his boat and go fishing (we have a public usable ramp). The guy launched his boat but forgot to undo the bowstand snap. Unfortunatly, he also launched the truck and trailer at the same time into 10 feet of water. The boat stood straight up in the air and all the contents floated out and started their journey around the marina. Same with the pickup cap since it wasn't bolted down. A diver was called in to undo the boat from the trailer which he did. The offending cable was cut and the boat launched itself into the sheriffs boat docked nearby. The diver then tried to put a tow rope on the truck and have it pulled out to no avail. By midnight, the truck and trailer were pulled from the ramp by crane but the hapless boater was no where to be found. A check on the registration revealed that he borrowed the truck from one buddy and the boat from another buddy and must have decided that leaving the whole mess was the better part of valor, until he got the bill from the diver, the crane rental and the marina for shutting down the ramp for the day. But life got a little more interesting as the year went on. Stay tuned for pt.2
