I'm looking for some suggestions for an OB motor for our 1967 Javelin. We need a bit of help getting to and from the dock. I've read that a Trolling motor might do the job, but I'm not sure how it will attach to the back? Any suggestions? Links? Prices?

A trolling motor should work fine and can be clamped directly to the transom like any outboard would be. You will need to get a good "DEEP-CYCLE" type battery to power the electric motor and have a way to keep the battery charged. If you trailer the boat just charge the battery according to manufacturers recommendation between trips, if you will keep the boat at a dock with AC power available (be sure to have a GFCI outlet, "Ground-Fault-Circuit-Interupter") you can plug in the charger right at the dock, otherwise you may needto bring the battery home after each trip. Keep the battery secured in a covered battery box while in use (actually, whenever it is on boat) and be sure the box is secured against movement as the boat rocks and heels.
A good "Group-27" size Deep-Cycle battery may actually be able to be used for several trips before it needs charging depending on how low you run the motor and how many amp-hours the motor uses. Those batteries start around $100.00 and go up, a smaller Group-24 battery will cost more like $60-70 but will have lower capacity and may need charging after every trip.
