Suggestions for 23.5 Trailer?

Hi folks.I just inherited a 23.5. I love the boat but the only problem is that it is in Pensacola Fl and I'm in Bucks Co. PA. I'm gonna head on down to pick it up but I need a trailer. (I think it would be rough on the hull if I dragged it up here without a trailer) Do you have any suggestions on how/where to get one? How much should I expect to pay and what trailer features should I look for? Thanks,Scott

Try Hunter

You may start with Hunter they are not too far away from Pensacola. The trailers I have seen for the 240 look almost identical to the one for my 23.5. Maybe you could pick it up from them on your way to Pensacola. Personally I would move down to where the boat is instead of moving the boat up there.

Go for a better trailer

Hi ScottJust a suggestion, but my experiences with the factory 23.5 trailer haven't been so good. Maybe I just got a lousy one. I once had a conversation with the trailer manufacturer for Hunter and was told they could adapt a tandem axle trailer originally designed for the 26/260 to a 23.5. I was quoted $2500.00. I'd think twice about towing one from Fla. to Pennsylvania on the original 23.5 type trailer.By the way...the boat is great.Alan LongS/V Random Access

Scott;Hunter used to make the trailer for the 23.5;however, there are two manufacutrers to look at. The first one is Magic Tilt who currently makes the one for the Hunter 240. I do not know if they have the pattern for the 23.5 but you can call them at 727-535-5561 and ask for Sammy.The next one is Performance which I believe they have the pattern. Call Ron Frosisky at 941-923-3382 and he can tell you. If you have any other questions, ask the forum. Other Stuff

If you do not have the trailer are you also without the mast crutch and the gin pole to lower the mast? The local dealer in Pensacola may also be another good place to look for help in getting your boat ready for the road. Or check the owners list to see if there is an owner in Pensacola who could put you in touch with a resource.

Rick;The Hunter 23.5 came standard with the mastraise/gin pole along with the rear mast carrier attached to transom. This was independent of the trailer.

23.5 trailer

the trailer from hunter although not the best is ok if you do the maintainence. You MUST check the bearings often.I have about 10,000mi on my trailer. I have had one hub fail in the four years i have had it. If you keep the bearings lubed and the tires up fla to penn should be a snap. But if I had to buy a new trailer I would buy a tandem. you are pretty close to the limit with the single axel.
