Hi all - starting to plan out solar panels on my Bimini. Looking for best location to mount the solar controller. I know it needs good ventilation and can get rather warm. Anyone done this with their H41 ? For reference, I have a Northern Lights generator in the port lazaret, and wind generator also on the port side, that go into a large bus in the aft port stern locker. Any experiences/suggestions most appreciated. I have a VE multiplus under the dinette seat, VE battery monitor on nav station and using two AGM’s for house batteries. Think also to upgrade to a Carbon GX for remote monitoring

The Victron controllers should be near the batteries. The controllers monitor the ambient temperature as a proxy for battery temperature. Battery temp is import if using AGMs, not important for LFP.

As mentioned above, Ideally, you want the MPPT as close as possible to your batteries or your hot battery bus... On most boats, the most practical location is close to the battery switches. If you don't have a hot battery bus (unswitched DC bus for MPPT solar, inverter/charger, etc...), now's the time...

System efficiency is paramount for solar, thus the necessity to be close to the batteries with the MPPT (to properly sense battery voltage).

CerboGX can do a LOT more than remote monitoring... it can provide accurate battery voltage to your Victron charge sources, it can regulate/limit charge amps, it can auto-start / stop the generator when the batteries are low, it can replace your old tank gauges, it can send data to NMEA2000 , etc...
