Suddenly faster

I've noticed that our cruise speed this year seemed to be slower than I remembered at a given rpm. Suddenly after a couple of days motoring it came up a half Knott or even more. Could soft growth have that much effect? The bottom looked pretty clean. Prop?

I'm not complaining understand.

If you're using an ablative bottom paint, then after a couple of days of motoring the slime should of washed off a bit. Yes, a fouled prop can certainly take a knot or two off. That would also lower your max rpms. I know when my prop is fouled as I will lose, sometimes, 200 - 300 max rpms.

Sunday to today, Maple Bay to Prevost to Saturna and home. Yes, use it or lose it. :) Works wonders --- 5.9 moved up to 6.4 at the same rpm over these few days. My understanding is that the more time you spend in Canadian waters the faster your boat will go. :) On our first day we sailed upwind out of Satellite Channel to Swanson Channel and hit 6.7 with aw at 16. Tons o'fun. :) Motoring thereafter.

I think it has something to do with metric conversion
or maybe density of the colder water. Regardless I think we have a convert. ;)
Glad you enjoyed your time out on the water.

@Ken Cross ,
Perhaps it might've been the water condition? I know for us in Kemah, if we have an incoming current it slows us down by almost three knots!

NO guys.... Ken is keenly aware of the many tides and currents in our waters. It is most likely the beard that grew when the boat was sitting for a few weeks. I think the ablative paint has finally done it's work.
