I know this is a stupid question and I should know the answer, but...
My sail maker wants to know the positioning of the battens and which and where ais the long one and the lengths of them all. Now I could raise the sail and have a look, but it's blowing a hooley here today and the forecast is the same for tomorrow so if any of you can answer a dumb question from an old fart, I would be very grateful
Thanks

You are going to have to wait. there is no way for anyone else to know the position of your current battens. too many sailmakers and variations on what and how they build.

IMHO the sail maker should decide where best to place them for the size and cut of the sail. I would get a new sail maker, but that's just me.

Hmm, OK I know what you mean and you're all qite correct. Too late for another sailmaker though.

I was thinking the same thing. Why would a sailmaker need to know the old measurements if they were making a new sail? I would be anxious about this one.
