Stuffing Box

Tim I pwn Vega 2225 and my maintenance log that goes back to the
original owner is complete the stuffing box is original it leaks a
little if I don't give it a shot of grease every few months. I am
planning to run the waterway in the coming fall. I am thinking I
will replace in the spring. The last owner used oil instead of
grease. That may be why it leaks a little? Doug

Thank you all for your input. The PSS and Volvo are the answers I was looking for. I am leaning towards the Volvo packing box due to its simplicity. The current set up I have now is badly corroded and the rubber hose is a exhaust hose with an internal wire. Hopefully there are no defects in the shaft to prevent a simple retro fit, otherwise I will be inquiring on where to get a new shaft.

Even if the shaft is scored, the worn area may not coincide with the location of the sealing surface of the new seal. This was the case with my shaft. The Volvo sealing lips were just clear so it was OK.Peter
