I want to replace the packing in the shaft log on a 1984 hunter. Does any one know what size it is ?

it's probably a one inch diametere shaft, the same size as on my H34. In lieu of a caliper, someone suggested gapping a Crescent wrench tight on the shaft then measuring the resulting gap of the wrench jaws--an excellent way for you to find out for sure!
