Am getting to know our recenty purchased 1982 Hunter 36. All's well and am very pleased so far. Of concern is accessibility to the stuffing box for inspection, adjustment, etc. How does one get access to it? From port cockpit locker? Starboard bearth? Above with engine cockpit hatch removed? From aft cockpit locker (doubtful because of water heater in the way)? It's tight from any of these directions. Anyone have experience here and know a good way? Looks like I may have to contract Minnie Me. Thanks, Mike

From quarterberth?

Hi Mike, I had the same issue with my new(1979) H37C and wasn't getting much help or sympathy. Turns out most H37C's had a big "door" that mine did NOT have. After some sabre sawing I now have that "door", most of the inside panel of the quarterberth is removable. Opened up easy access to the stuffing box, waterheater, and both dipsticks(tranny and oil). Don't know if your H36 is like that.
