stuffing box on Cat 27

I'm having trouble finding the correct size of flax for the stuffing box on my 1972 Cat 27. It has the Universal Atomic 4 gas engine. A previous owner, West Marine and a local marine parts store couldn't tell me. Please help!

Try online at Catalina Diirect. Get the phone contact on the website and call their parts department. I have had good luck with them in the past if they don't have it thaey usually can tell you who does. Good folks to deal with...

Stuffing

The reason that they can't tell you is because they can't be sure if the stuffing box is original or not. You should have a 1 in shaft, and most C27's take 3/16 packing.Peter

Thanks for the info. I don't know if things are exactly original on this boat - I've owned it for 4 months now. I'll measure the shaft and contact Catalina Direct and see what they say. Thank You guys!
