Does anyone have info on maintenance of the shaft stuffing box? I would like to know what size shaft packing to use and any guidelines for tightening. Will be attempting to loosen the dreaded packing nut soon. Thanks. Eric. s/v Sea Beam.

you can call Hunter , give 'em your boat model and they can tell you. I have 28.5 with 1 inch shaft - it takes 3/16th packing - and I use the GFO engineered teflon fabric. Check it out ( my post of a few weeks ago) here and on line.

You can measure the shaft and nut to get the correct size of packing,or call Hunter and they can tell you. I have a 37.5 Legend with a 1" shaft and I use 3/16" of the GFO teflon packing.
