Beneteau 40 Coronado
We have a new Beneteau 40 (2011 Model - 60 days old) with the Classic Rig Main. We paid extra to avoid the issues with the in mast furling main, but ours will not come down without lots of tugging and pulling each slide at the mast. This is not fun and is a big issue when weather is involved.

Has anyone else had this problem? I would like to hear from all other B40 Classic Rig Main folks to find out if this problem is specific to our boat.

Any suggestions and/or solutions are appreciated!

Thanks.

Jeff

This might be a dumb question but have you lubricated the sailtrack and slides?

or have you contacted your dealer, since it is new.

No problems, mine will fall into the stackpack if I let go of the halyard. Yours should too.

Lubricate the sail slugs with Mclube or something similar. also shoot it inside the mast track as high as you can reach. This should make the sail drop easily.

I am assuming that you are headed into the wind when you attempt to drop your sail. if not, the wind load will make it difficult for the sail to drop because of the side loading of the slugs in the track.

afix a bit of rag to the halyard, soak it in McLube, afix a light downhaul line, and zip the rag up and down the sailtrack several times. Hit each slide. Go head to wind. If that doesn't fix the problem, see the dealer and take no prisoners.
