Centerboard, not keel
This is new to me, I've heard of and experienced the centerboard getting stuck in the up position, but this is new to have one stick in the down position. Is there any thing that may have got jammed in the centerboard trunk that is causing this? A build-up of weeds or barnicles may be jamming the centerboard. The CB is moved by 2 lines, one to pull it up, and one to pull it down. Do you have both lines? One other thought, if a previous owner had ever removed the centerboard for one reason or other, they may have not put the centerboard pivot bushing back into the CB. This bushing is a plastic cylinder that the board actually pivots on, it is slightly longer than the CB is thick and so allows the board to pivot with the bolt tightened to seal. The bushing is held in by the bolt through the CB trunk. Finally, did this boat come with an Owners Manual? If not, let me know. I have an expanded manual that I've created for the DS II and I can mai lone to you for a cost of $7.00 to cover printing and postage.daysailermanual@juno.com
