4 months

moved the boat here about 4 months ago and never got around to fully clean the prop before i left so some of the growth is from when i kept the boat in Melourne fl... the other thing is it hasn't had paint on it since 2 1/2 years ago when the prop was new...nothing i try keeps the paint on for long. if you look at the bottom it has been 19 months since i painted and not a thing stuck

Looks like mine

Your prop looks like mine after one month of exposure to the Peace River in the canals of Punta Gorda Isles this past Spring. I had the prop cleaned in May by a diver and in June we went out for a day sail, only to find that we had no power. After checking the prop at the pier we found that it was covered with barancles very similar to yours, and that was in only one months time. The prop we have is a Campbell Sailor, which looks very much like what you have also. The blades are narrow, and when coverd with barnacles they become useless. About the only way we can keep the prop clean is to have it cleaned on a regular basis by a diver. However, I plan to try a new paint available from Pettit paints, called "Zinc Coat Barnacle Barrier", next time we haul our boat out. You might want to try it out also. Where did you haul the boat out? Ernie

Looks like the H34 strut I bought

See my post prior. I'm out of town and don't have the details, but the strut is approx $230 plus shipping from a company in NJ. They appartently made the one's Hunter used.

more info

Well to answer some of your queations here goes...the way i bent the shaft is by picking up some underwater trash left over from huricane charlie...a piece of dock with a line attached. the line wound around the shaft and the dock part was wedged benind the dock and as the saying goes when i got to the end of my rope the engine quit IMMEDIATELY...i am not sure how much damage was done, i think the shaft is bent, stuffing box damaged, strut for sure. I pulled (insurance company had the boat towed) the boat our at ALL AMERICAN COVERED STORAGE and there rate is better than the yard next door. (i'm not concered as the insurance company is footing the bill but i will pay whatever the difference to keep the boat out of the water to do some other maintance items. the bottom doesn't really need painting after 18 months but after being out for 3-4 weeks i am sure the paint(trinidad) will no longner provide protection for long. the growth on the port charlotte side canals doesn't seem to bad as 5 year old pilings have some growth but not more than i would expect from anyting in salt water for that length of time. if you check out the photo forum you can see the bottom of the boat and it is clean so the growth is only on the unprotected part of the shaft and prop. yes it is a campbell sailor prop and i love it. it does just as advertised and i feel worth the extra money...ernie..where in PGI are you? i can be reached on fri-sat-sun at 255 0368 and always on my cel at 772 913 2414 we should get together and let me pick your brain about the area..i have only been here since 3 weeks before CHARLIE and only been out on charlotte harbor twice...could use some local knowledge..will join punta gorda sailing club soon as i get my boat back and like to get involed in the area. well i hope i have answered some questions and anyone that wants to contact me directly i can be found at 1keladi@msn.com or 1keladi@comcast.net i should be out of service for 1-2 months and would love a ride or be a willing racing crew chet p
