Now what were you thinking? Can't believe how tough the urethane is on the exterior wood work for our 2004 H260! I needed to refinish it and thought I'd get some (not A) stripper to ease my pain in getting it off but it barely touched the finish of the stuff. It claimed to be the top stripper for urethane on fine furniture from Home Depot but this stuff is a tough as diamonds. The givaway should have been when I spent 2 hrs with an 80grit head on my pneaumatic orbital sander to little/no avail. Need recomendations on redily available stripping agents to get this stuff off easily. Thanks Michael

Saran Wrap

Michael, As soon as you apply your stripper try wrapping the area with Saran Wrap. This keeps the solvents from evaporating and allows the stripper to continue to work. Regardless, a very tedious process and requires multiple applications. After refinishing antique furniture for many years I came to the realization that there is no "miracle" product out there.

By far my least favorite project so far

This has been unreal. I ended up using my bench grinder with a wire wheel for hours to strip this woodwork!! Steel is not as tough as the stuff Hunter has applied to the exterior woodwork. Used a whole quart of the "killer stripper" which I was nearly drowning the stern rail seat woodwork in, barely made a dent. Tried acetone, stirene, 2 diff strippers, even wrapped w/saran wrap and finaly just went for the wire wheel and resanded everything with the orbital sander. If I applied heat after all the highly flammable strippers I've used to this point you'd see the smoke from Oregon to NY. My biggest relief is that there is only a relativly small amount of wood work. How is this done on big wooden boats? ......hired out:) Thanks for the input. If you know how this is done in a simpler way share it for the archives. Back to sailing and screw the woodwork. Michael and Kelli
