Joan and I are planning to attend. We will get there on Fri and leave around noon on Sunday. Like to see the show room floor on Friday afternoon and go to the seminars on Sat. Now I have to assume that a few of you will attend. We have a room booked at the Marriott. SO WHERE IS THE PARTY GOING TO BE???? Anyone else planning to be there? It is only two months away.. Start planning. Jim S/V Java

sure will be there

I sure will. Went to the last Sail Expo in Philly the day of the big east coast blizzard 2 years ago. It took me 3 hrs to get there from my home in NY and it took about 5 hours just to get back to Pete D. (Emmylou)'s home in Jersey. My windshield wipers broke and didn't work. Every 2 minutes, someone had to use the brush to clear the windshield. It really didn't matter though as we were going about 5 mps right behind a snow plow... As Bob Bitchin says, Attitude is the difference between adventure and ordeal. I had an adventure. The best part was that no one was there so It was easy to take a good long look at everything there.

Yo Java Jim!

Too cold dude..... Brian and Steph, and TC and Jamie may be there, but they are gluttons for punishment. Brain can show you his scar......

Now that's fast...

Mike, that must have been the fastest snow plow in the east. 5 MPS (MILES PER SECOND)? Sorry, had to bust you on that one. I went to the Atlantic City Expo years ago. Boy was it cold. Not sure if I'll make it up to Philly, but it has crossed my mind.

Best birthday in years

Right on, Mike! The Philly sail expo two years ago (or at least coming home from it) was a textbook demonstration of how attitude can help you rise above adverse circumstances. An hour and a half from my house to Philly, and 5 hours to get home. And then to top it all off, we got back only to hear that the highways in NJ had been closed to all but emergency traffic, so you were stuck at my place for the night. Not too bad a plight, though: Since it just happened to be my birthday, my wife had a lovely dinner and plenty of liquid refreshment waiting for us when we got back (but only after we had shoveled our way INTO the driveway). And as for that snowplow, I'm not sure how fast it was going, but it could've been 5 mps for all I know. Given the crappy conditions, anything faster than standing still felt like warp speed. I only hope Glenn D (who was riding in the backseat) has recovered. See you in Philly in January. Pete s/v EmmieLou (Oday 322) Little Silver, NJ

Best place is the Marriott

It connects via a walkway to the convention hall. That snow storm was fun, we got there before it started on Friday. Watched it snow all day on Saturday, sat in the hotel swimming pool/hot tube and watched the snow fall. Everything was plowed by noon because of the football game that afternoon. Can't remember who Phily was playing but it was a championship game. Wind blowing and 20degs. Went right by the stadium on the way home. The link is for the show, on the left side has links to the hotels. Conchy - Did Steph hit him? To cold??? the water isn't frozen over! :) Jim S/V Java

I never left NY

two years ago and I was planning to take the train so I could relax and after it started snowing so hard I aborted all travel,so I might get there this year and stay a day cause the Marriott room rates are reasonable.

If anyone wants to party on a boat, we'll be happy to host....it'll be frickin' freezing though!!!! Keep us up to date about any goings on that weekend! If worse comes to worse, we'll have something in the basement at home. (We're about 15 miles from the WW Bridge in Jersey) We'll be available! Jack Manning S/V Victim of Fate Atlantic City, NJ
