Good morning everyone. I have been reading a lot from this site over the past 8 months. My fiance and I purchased a 1984 25.5hunter and almost 2 months ago we had her lifted out of the water for the first time. We finally got to inspect her belly!
We sanded her down to start fresh with a brand new paint job only to discover tiny blisters. Under the advisement of the dockmaster we popped them we were almost ready to paint. We had them lift her up to sand where the boat was sitting on the rack and when they put it down, the gelcoat cracked on both sides almost halfway between the forks from the lift to the wood rack. Panic striken wasn't even the word to describe how we felt when we heard her crack. We used marine tex to repair the damage and got our primer and paint on without any issues. I myself was painting the last coat of bottom paint when they lowered her back to the rack one last time. And to my horror I hear the same cracking. Argh it is so frustrating however I am determined to get her going good. I am now in need of knowing the strap points on the boat so they can use the sling to put her back in the water after we repair the gelcoat again and make a few other repairs. If you have and specs or suggestions please help. Thank you
