I had a combination Alcohol-Electric
My '87 C-30 came with a Seaward Princess combination pressurized Alcohol / Electric stovetop with a microwave oven mounted below the stovetop on a separate shelf. When in port and connected to shore power, we could use the 2 element electric stove-top (or the microwave oven), but when on the hook or under way, the electric top flipped up and locked to reveal a 2 burner pressurized alcohol stove. As we have never used the oven on my boats, not having an oven while not being connected to shore power wasn't a great loss.An earlier post mentioned the flare-ups with the alcohol stoves from improper priming. This can be controlled by proper operation and care, and this stove from Seaward is a pretty slick, easy to install option. I didn't find this product in the current Seaward catalog, but Seaward might have another suggestion.Installing LPG turns into a mighty big PItA with all of the ancillary stuff that is required as a part of a LPG system, so, although it works (and works well), I personally wouldn't recommend adding LPG as a retrofit for a 24 year old boat.Steve(Formerly)Alchemist 30T # 4764(Currently)Alchemist 320 #909p.s. the Seaward website is linked in one of the posts above
