Storm Tri-sail and Storm Jib dimensions

Can anyone give me the “rule of thumb” as to how I determine the proper size of a storm jib and a storm tri-sail? I have a Legend 37.5 and know the dimensions of existing main and Genoa.

Storm Sail Size

Explorer,Storm sails can be made to any size but there are some guidelines that we use. Storm Jibs are built no larger than (IxI)x5%. Storm Trysails are built no larger than (Luff)x(foot)x17.5%. Thes are the maximum sizes according to the Int'l Offshore Rule which pertains to race boats. For cruising boats we make the storms sail up to 20% smaller than these limits. We would recommend a 100sqft storm jib and a 130sqft trysail for the 37.5Thanks,Bill C.Doyle Sails
